How can I encourage my child's faith to grow?
Find a place to worship with God's people.
Ezra 3

If you've ever moved, you know how much work it is to settle your family in a new community. Besides locating everything you need for running your household—finding the best grocery store, selecting new doctors—you want to make the transition healthy for your children. You visit their school and help them make new friends.

The women who moved to Judah didn't have schools and shopping malls to choose from, but they did have one priority that all godly mothers should share: They did whatever it took to bring their families to worship with the Lord's people.

For the women of Judah, finding a place of worship meant traveling to Jerusalem. The facilities were far from perfect; at first there wasn't even a building (3:6)—and they probably didn't have a youth group. But that didn't keep the people away. Imagine what this told the children about the priorities of their parents!

You can show your children that worshiping with God's people is a priority, too. Whether you're freshly transplanted into a new community, or living in the same home you've had for years, it's never too early—or too late—to find a place of worship with others who believe in God. When you worship with your children, you nurture their faith both by your example and their own experience. (See also Joshua 4; 1 Chronicles 22; Proverbs 2:1-15; John 3:16-21.)

Good Words to Remember:
And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the LORD: "For he is good, for his mercy endures forever toward Israel." Ezra 3:11

Today's Challenge:
Are you involved in a local, Bible-believing church?
