How can I encourage my child's faith to grow?
Be an example.
Proverbs 2:1, 5
Your practice of faith is one of the greatest influences in developing your child's faith. If you pray, your child will take note. If you read the Bible, your child will see its importance to youand often copy your practice. If you explain a difficult decision by saying you want to "follow God's rules," your child will begin to recognize right and wrong.
Young children love to be like their parents. The habits and attitudes they learn from you will influence their entire lives. Proverbs 2:4 says you are to search for wisdom as you would for treasure. Teaching biblical lessons is important. But the old adage "Children learn more by what you do than by what you say" is still true. So love God and love your children. You'll lead them toward loving you and loving God in return. (See also Joshua 4; 1 Chronicles 22; Ezra 3; John 3:16-21.)
Good Words to Remember:
My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:1, 5
