How can I overcome my feelings of loneliness?
Ask God to provide family members.
Psalm 68:4-6

Maybe you feel lonely because a friend has moved away, or because there's no one with whom you can truly connect among all the people you know. Alone or in a crowd, you long for attachment.

God has a way of bringing people into your life who can become family to you. At first you may not see them that way because they are people you might never choose: people you volunteer with, people who become your boss, even people who annoy you when you first meet them. But time passes, and something brings you together—most often working side by side at a job or service project, or going through similar horrific experiences. Out of that side-by-side experience is forged a strong bond, one that's difficult to find even in families.

Does it sound like a fairy tale that God would provide a friend for you? God puts in a special category those who experience an intense sort of loneliness—orphans and widows. He promises to champion their cause and locate other people to provide what they need. He seems to understand that you might miss certain relationships in life. So until you get to heaven and know him fully, he provides pieces of himself with skin on for you to know and love. (See also Psalm 22; Matthew 26:36-46; 2 Timothy 4:16-18; Revelation 3:20-22.)

Good Words to Remember:
God sets the solitary in families. Psalm 68:6

Today's Challenge:
How is God providing "family members" for you?
