What should I look for in a future spouse?
Look for a man who's sacrificial.
Ephesians 5:21-33
No man is going to be a perfect husband. Knights in shining armor make great myths and movies, but real-life men are fallen like the rest of us. So if you want to develop a realistic perspective on marriage, don't look t the latest blockbuster movie or romance novel. Scripture clearly tells you what God wants husbands to be: selfless, faithful servants who appreciate what Christ has done for them (5:25-29).
Where do you find a man like that? He's already out serving people because of his love for God. He's volunteering at the local homeless shelter, being a big brother to a boy who has no father, or serving as an elder in the church. This is the kind of man who'll be praying to meet a godly wife, one who is already out serving people because she loves God! (See also Genesis 24; Song of Solomon 1; 1 Corinthians 13.)
Good Words to Remember:
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. Ephesians 5:28, 29
Today's Challenge:
Why not get about the business of serving God in the ways he has gifted youand leave the rest to God?
