Will God really condemn people who don't accept Christ as their Savior?
God invites people to Christ, but they need to accept the invitation.
John 6:60-69
Sometimes you may think of God as one who sits in judgment on you, waiting for his next opportunity to punish you for something you've done wrong. Perhaps your parents treated you that way, so you project that image onto God. But nothing could be further from the truth!
In the Gospel of John, Jesus said God's greatest desire was to draw people to his Son so they could find life. In fact, Jesus went so far as to say that no one comes to him unless God draws him first. But even when God draws you, you may still fight against that invitation. Just as Jesus invited Judas to come to him (even though Judas would later betray him) so God draws you to life-giving faith in Christ.
God begs you to respond by first accepting his offer of forgiveness and grace and then following him. As you turn your life over to Jesus, you are "saved." But life without Christ is spiritual death. (See also Deuteronomy 30; Zephaniah 1:14-18; John 3:16-18; Romans 10:5-21.)
Good Words to Remember:
Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. John 6:68
Today's Challenge:
Do you see God as a punishing Father, or as the giver of your life? What you think of this question can determine your eternal destiny.
