How can I tell if I'm doing a good job as a mother?
Teach your children who they really belong to.
Ephesians 6:1-4

Mounting piles of diapers, socks, and underwear. Flute lessons. Staying up all night with a newborn—or waiting for a rebellious teen to come home. Scout meetings. Sunday school and church activities. Bake sales that are announced at the last minute. All of these things stack up to an awful lot for moms to do. It's no wonder they get tired!

When you're feeling overwhelmed with things to do, this passage offers relief. It states some straightforward ways you can tell if you're being a godly mom (6:4).

  1. Don't be hard on your kids. That means not taking your stress or busyness out on them.
  2. Raise them properly. You can raise your kids to be kind to others; provide for their physical needs (such as food, clothing, shelter), their emotional needs (for love and discipline), their mental needs (for schooling), and, most of all, their spiritual needs (where they're heading for eternity).
  3. Teach them and instruct them about the Lord. Take them to Sunday school and church. Read Bible stories to them at home. And, above all, live out the truths of Scripture in your daily life. (See also Luke 2:41-52; Hebrews 12:5-13.)

Good Words to Remember:
You, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
