How can I keep my life centered on God?
Focus on the promises of Godand then do what He says.
Genesis 12:1-7
How often in an hour, a day, or a week do you think about God? And when you think about God, what do you feel? Guilt, fear, challenge, worship, belonging, love? Being centered on God may bring out all of these responses at different times. But as you focus more on God, you'll move toward worship, belonging, and love.
How can you become more centered on God? One way is to focus on His promises in Scripture. The Lord made some astounding promises to Abram in this passage, but with the promises came commands for immediate action. So what did Abram do? He packed up his belongings and did all that the Lord said.
Centering on God takes mental and physical work. You can discipline your mind to turn often to God. You can meditate on His promises. But then you need to get up and moveobeying all that Scripture commands you to do. (See also Matthew 25:31-46; Acts 13:1-5; Galatians 5:16-26; 2 Timothy 2:14-26; 2 John.)
Good Words to Remember:
Now the LORD had said to Abram: "
I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing." Genesis 12:1, 2
Today's Challenge:
Do you do what God says, or choose to go your own way? Why?
