How can I learn to forgive my spouse even when there's no apology?
Let Jesus help you tear down walls of discord.
Ephesians 2:14-18 | posted 1/30/2009

Did you know that God thinks of you as his bride? Throughout Scripture, especially the Old Testament, God used the analogy of marriage to describe the intimate covenant he made between him and his people.

And just as God didn't wait for you to come to him before he forgave your sins, you can forgive your spouse before he's truly sorry for hurting you. God knew your sin wouldn't allow you to turn to him first, so he graciously took the initiative. When you're struggling to find room in your heart to forgive your unrepentant spouse, think about all God has done to forgive you. He let his own Son die in your place so you could be saved by his grace (2:14, 15). What is human forgiveness when compared with that sacrifice? (See also Jeremiah 33:1-9; 1 Peter 3:8-15.)

Good Words to Remember:

Through [Christ] we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:18
