What's essential for a healthy, rewarding sex life?
Recognize that sex is a gift from God.
Genesis 1:27-31 | posted 1/30/2009

Is sex a duty? Is it dirty? Or is it just a bad joke? Sex doesn't need to be any of these. When God made the universe, he designed sex between husband and wife to be very good, to produce children, and to be treated as a gift from a loving Father to the people he had created. God made human beings (male and female) both in his image. This means that a woman can enjoy the body God has given her, and she can also appreciate the body God has given her husband. In some mysterious sense, men and women, so delightfully different yet complementary to each other, are both in the image of God.

God told his newly created man and woman, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth" (1:28). This is God's invitation to participate in his creative work—through helping to give life to children. After God had finished his work of creation, he surveyed all he had made. He saw that "it was very good (1:31). And that includes sex. (See also Song of Solomon 5:10-16; 1 Corinthians 7:1-5.)

Good Words to Remember:

So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27

Today's Challenge:

How do you look at sex? As a duty, or as a gift to enjoy?
