How can I lead my unbelieving spouse to Christ without offending him/her?
Show your spouse your hope of eternity.
Revelation 21:9-22:21 | posted 1/30/2009

It's hard to want the faith of someone who's full of fear. The Book of Revelation offers the best cure for fear. It admits that life here can be awful, that it ends in death. But then the good news begins. Death for the Christian isn't the end; it's only the beginning. God will make a new heaven and a new earth—both exquisitely beautiful. He'll fill it with his believers. And life with him will never end.

This hope of eternity can take the edge off many of our fears. We spend much of our time trying to avoid discomfort and death. While we need to be prudent about such things, the Book of Revelation shows us that our hope goes far beyond the small things of our current existence. Allow this hope, this perspective, to pervade your life, especially as you relate to your spouse.

When it seems appropriate, explain to him your faith in Jesus who is "the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last" (22:13). Because Christ is eternal, you, too, can take the long view that includes eternity in heaven with him. Continue to pray that your husband will accept Christ's invitation to real life. (See also Genesis 39; 41:39; Song of Solomon 2:16-3:4; John 13:1-7; 1 Peter 3:1-8.)

Good Words to Remember:

Only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life [will enter the city] …. The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. Revelation 21:27; 22:17

Today's Challenge:

How are you living in the hope of eternity on a daily basis?
