I long to have children. Will God ever fulfill this dream?
Be aware that God's timing is not your timing.
Genesis 25:20-26 | posted 1/30/2009

It's so hard to wait when you really want something—and even harder when that something is such a good thing to long for. Children are considered a blessing from God. So why doesn't he just deliver one to you? Why do you have to wait when all around you teens are getting pregnant out of wedlock, when other friends seem to "pop" out babies like they're operating a slot machine?

Meet Rebekah, a kindred spirit. She had been married for twenty years before she had a child—and then she had twins! Talk about a double blessing and a surprise—especially to her husband who was sixty when Jacob and Esau were born. Neither would have guessed or planned for this timing to have a baby, so late in their married lives, and yet God was faithful.

As you go through each month, wishing you were pregnant (and being disappointed again when you aren't), remember Rebekah, and God's long-range perspective. He's the One who holds time in his hands. And if he wants to add a child to your family, he'll make it happen—in his perfect timing. (See also Genesis 18:1-15; ; Genesis 30:1-8; 1 Samuel 1:5-20.)

Good Words to Remember:

Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his plea. Genesis 25:21

Today's Challenge:

If you find out this next month that you're not pregnant again, how will you choose to respond? Remembering the story of Rebekah, what can you pray for?
