Model godly living in a fallen world.

This passage from Proverbs gives guidance about the right way to live. There are many descriptions of the right way: "The way of wisdom" (4:11); "the right paths" (4:11); "she is your life" (4:13); "like the shining sun" (4:18); "life … and health" (4:22); and "established" (4:26). What comforting and encouraging phrases!
In order to teach your children, you must study what God says and apply it to your lifestyle. The way you live must acknowledge that God has shown you the sensible way and guided you along it (4:11). What you think, what you say and how you say it all influence what your children think and say. Just read through verses 20-27 again. "Give attention to my words" (4:20). "Keep your heart with all diligence" (4:23). "Put away from you a deceitful mouth" (4:24). Parents have a far greater influence than anyone else on the values of their children. If you live as a godly example in your family, your children will have your influence as an armor against the negative cultural influences around them. (See also Ezra 8:21-34; Psalm 119:97-105; Song of Solomon 8:8-9; 1 Peter 5:2-11.)
Good Words to Remember:
The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18
Today's Challenge:
If your children were to do what you say and think, would they be living a godly life?
