How can I learn to be more content with my life?
Realize God is in control of it.
Daniel 2:20, 21 | posted 1/30/2009

Do you wish you were married? that you had a child? a roommate you really clicked with? Or maybe you'd like a different job—one that uses more of your natural skills and is less tedious. Or perhaps you're in a difficult and rather hostile place, like Daniel (one of the young Israelites who was captured and taken to Babylonia). Maybe your boss is hard on you, for no reason you can figure out; your spouse is verbally abusive; or you've just become a single parent.

No matter the situation, Daniel shows that God is mighty and knows everything (2:20). God is always in control of human events (2:21). What a great thing to remember when times are tough, and you wish your life were different! Knowing God is in charge lets you relax and live life a day at a time—instead of becoming stressed about what the future holds.

What should your response be to such a great God? To praise him "forever and ever" (2:20), even when you don't know how things will turn out. But God always does. (See also Psalm 107:8; Ecclesiastes 6:1-9 ; 2 Peter 1:3-15.)

Good Words to Remember:

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are his. And he changes the times and the seasons; he removes kings and raises up kings. Daniel 2:20-21

Today's Challenge:

What things in your life are you not sure will turn out? How can accepting that God is in control result in less stress?
