I'm struggling with depression, and I feel so alone. Does God really care?
He can help and counsel you in your time of trouble.
Psalm 46 | posted 1/30/2009

Whom do you turn to in your deepest time of trouble? If your spouse dies suddenly of a heart attack, if your infant daughter is in a car crash, if your mom develops Alzheimer's, if you find out your boyfriend/girlfriend has betrayed you, if you discover you have incurable cancer? Do you run to a trusted friend, a counselor, or to God—first? If we're honest, most of us would run to a person we can see, touch, and hear. We crave the comfort of a human touch.

But don't underestimate God's ability to help. In an unstable, troublesome world, God is the only solid "refuge and strength" in your life. People will leave you, disappoint you, and give you wrong counsel. But God never will. And with his help, you can make it through this period of depression. However, he also asks you to use your common sense. In his almighty plan, he has provided for godly counselors, who can assist you through this process. So don't be afraid or embarrassed to secure their help. They can be an invaluable assistance in reaching emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental health once again. (See also Job 30:16-31; Psalm 16:7-9; Lamentations 3:17-26.)

Good Words to Remember:

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

Today's Challenge:

What kind of counsel do you need from God today? Is he asking you to seek further help in this time of need? If so, why not make that phone call today?
