Sometimes my love life is so drab. Is it okay to look at pornography?
No. Ask God, instead, to help keep you from temptation.
2 Timothy 2:22 | posted 1/30/2009

What kind of input are you allowing into your mind? With the free-for-all on the Internet, you can find all sorts of pornographic images just by clicking a mouse—right in your own living room. So what should stop you from checking out pornographic sites? After all, no one would know ….

Don't be trapped by that lie of Satan. Even if no other human knows, you know, and God knows. By allowing such lurid input into your brain, you're sabotaging the life God wants for you. You can't help but be affected by the images of pornography. The old adage is true: "Garbage in, garbage out." And soon, if not already, the results of that garbage in will filter out in other ways—through the way you value human life, to the way you treat your opposite-sex coworker. Those who use pornography can look like average, honest citizens, but their smooth exterior hides the ugliness of their lives and sin. They become what the Bible calls "double-minded," unstable in all their ways. Instead, ask God to keep you from temptation—even if it means revamping your lifestyle and asking a Christian friend or pastor to hold you accountable. (See also Song of Solomon 2:8-17; Galatians 5:19-23.)

Good Words to Remember:

Pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22

Today's Challenge:

What practical step can you take to avoid temptation? Change your driving-home route? Watch less late-night TV? Steer clear of trashy magazines?
