I'm pregnant, and I don't know what to do.
Realize that it is God who gives life.
Job 31:15 | posted 1/30/2009

Should I get an abortion, have and keep the baby, or give it up for adoption. How can I decide?

In times of crisis, it's easy to rationalize-to make decisions you otherwise wouldn't have made because you're under pressure and you don't know what to do. Right now, as you feel life growing inside you, your anxiety is rising. You're afraid others will find out that you're pregnant (maybe you're secretly throwing up or beginning to wear a larger size of clothes), and you feel angry and scared because of this "interruption" in your life.

During such a time, don't be lulled into false thinking. Those who say abortions are a "quick fix" are sadly mistaken. Ask anyone who's had an abortion about the results not only in the baby's life (death) but in her life for years afterward (it's called "postabortion trauma," and many of today's women suffer intensely because of it). That's because God has put a high value on life because he created it. He made you, and he allowed that child to form inside you. Killing a child, to whom God has given life, will only compound your guilt in the future. So do the right thing: allow this baby the chance at life. It'll be a decision you never regret. Nine months of your life is a short time to spend in hardship, if it means you won't have to suffer the rest of your life for breaking God's commandment not to kill (see Exodus 20:13). (See also Job 12: 7-10; Psalm 127:3; 1 Timothy 1:14-19.)

Good Words to Remember:

Did not he who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same One fashion us in the womb? Job 31:15

Today's Challenge:

When you're tempted to take "the easy way out" (abortion), remind yourself that this child isn't a blob of tissue in your body. God himself has breathed life into your baby.
