How can I resist the pressure to be sexually active?
Ask for God's strength.
Psalm 103
It doesn't matter because
This rationalization may trip you up morally. You may think, It doesn't matter if I become sexually active because I've gone too far anyway; or, I'm just not the kind of person who can stand up to others. Giving in to sexual sin is often preceded by a put-down: After all, I'm not perfectso why bother?
But God knows about your lack of perfection better than you do. He made you and is well acquainted with the fact that you are dust (103:14). God comes to an opposite conclusion from the one above. Obedience matterseven if you're not perfect. He desires your obedience, yet doesn't treat you "according to [your] sins" (103:10) because of his patience and mercy.
Although God forgives your sins and heals your wounds when you confess your disobedience, this is plan B. Plan A is to obey God. And he promises to give you the strength to do just thatinstead of giving in to your lesser possibilities. (See also Joshua 7; Ephesians 6:10-20; James 1:12-18; 2 Peter 2:7-9.)
Good Words to Remember:
Bless the LORD
who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. Psalm 103:2, 5
Today's Challenge:
The next time you're tempted to give in, what could stop you?
