How can I resist the pressure to be sexually active?
Be wise, and look for friends to support you.
Ephesians 6:10-20
As a single person, sex outside the sanction of marriage is a real and powerful temptation, no matter how long you've been a Christian. It's such a common part of most people's lives in our world today that honoring God with your body requires serious effort on your part. What can you do to stay sexually pure?
You should be all means pray (6:18) that God will protect you from sexual sin. Your prayers, however, must be coupled with wise choices. If certain people, movies, or social settings tempt you to sin, avoid them out of devotion to God. You are God's temple, after all, and there are spiritual forces at work in your life that will tempt you in subtle ways to compromise your faith (6:12). Be choosy about whom you date. Respect your weaknesses and surround yourself with people who promise to pray for you to be sexually pure. This is how you arm yourself against the weapons of the devil (6:13). (See also Joshua 7; Psalm 103; James 1:12-18; 2 Peter 2:7-9.)
Good Words to Remember:
Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Ephesians 6:10
Today's Challenge:
Surround yourself with friends who support your decision to abstain from sex outside marriage.
