Let God stick up for you.

Imagine you're in a room where people are thinking you are only half. Then Jesus shows up beside you and responds, "You mean her? Not a chance. I've filled her with an overflowing life. I've done special things for her."
Is that far-fetched? No, David imagined the Lord was right beside him as he wrote Psalm 23. He portrayed himself sitting at a table enjoying a feast. God prepared especially for him, while his enemies watched. Then God honored David as a guest until his cup was filled to the brim and then some (23:5).
Meditating on this scene comes in handy when you get into situations in which you might feel inadequate. With this in mind, you can socialize with the confidence of a person who has received special treatment from an important figure. You don't have to defend yourself against comments and looks, but can rely on God to do the enlightening. While people may try to make you feel you need something more (specifically, a mate) to be better off, realize that God has already given you all you need—himself! (See also Isaiah 40: 21-31; Philippians 1: 12-30.)
