As a single parent, is it all right for me to date? Should I wait until my children are grown?
Consider the end result.
Daniel 12
Life sure would be a lot easier if you could see the results of your daily decisions before making them. And dating decisions are no exception. Who hasn't thought, If I'd known he was so boring/selfish/cheap/fill-in-the-blank, I'd never have wasted my time with him? As they say, hindsight is 20/20.
But the results of those daily decisions are less important than the results of your decision to follow God. While you can't predict what will happen in your life, you do know this: If you faithfully live for God, you'll be rewarded with eternal life.
So what about those daily decisions, like the ones you make about dating? More often than not, there is no "right" choice. In the end, you can only pray about your decisions and trust God to give you the wisdom to make choices that honor him. When you do, you can hold on to the promise made to Daniel (12:13) and be assured that God will be with you, blessing your desires to follow him in every aspect of life, including dating. (See also Isaiah 51:12-16; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17.)

Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. Daniel 12:3
