How can I handle my doubts about God?
Plant your roots in Christ, and let them grow deeper.
Colossians 2:6-19 | posted 1/30/2009

Doubts tend to come during crisis times. Why did this terrible thing happen? What should I really be doing with my life? How can I guide my child to turn from this path she's chosen? How will I handle this injustice? Crises can feel like gale force winds against your seedling tree of faith.

Because you've accepted Jesus, you can bend without breaking. To do this, let each action, attitude, and choice show your confidence that obeying God is the right way to go. Each good choice shoots out another root of stability. Each caring response helps you grow taller and more mature. Each recognition and refusal of evil puts forth a branch that draws in God's light and power. The growth you build will give you the assurance that nothing can shake you from security in Jesus when a crisis hits. And you'll discover that troubles are more an encounter with this imperfect world than anything God brings. Doubt will fade as you find resources and strength from the hand of Jesus. (See also Job 1; Psalm 136; Jeremiah 23:16-32; Romans 4:13-25.)

Good Words to Remember:

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6, 7

Today's Challenge:

Are your roots planted deep enough you can bend without breaking in times of doubt?
