Involve your whole being.

It has been said that "all of life is worship." When Ezra read and explained God's Law to the people, they caught this vision. They listened to God's Word (8:3), then responded with their bodies (8:5, 6), their voices (8:6), and their tears (8:9). Their worship included confession (9:3), prayer (9:4, 6), and praise (9:5). As the Old Testament rituals involved entire families to instruct children in the story of God's great salvation, their worship extended into their homes. And their worship extended to their neighborhoods as they "went their way to eat and drink, to send portions and rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that were declared to them" (8:12).
The shape of worship today will differ from that of Ezra's day. While you may not throw dirt on your head to show sorrow for your sins or build a shelter out of branches on your roof, you still must allow God's Word to capture all your being and infect all your living—because God is greater than mere words can express! (See also Nehemiah 12:27-43; Job 42:1-6; Psalm 42.)
Good Words to Remember:
Stand up and bless the LORD your God forever and ever! Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise! Nehemiah 9:5
Today's Challenge:
How much time do you spend in worshiping God? Why not start a regular time today?
