Worship with a thirsty heart.

Worship as I should? As I'm obligated to? Despite whatever worship techniques you follow, let worship become a matter of the heart. But how does that occur? It happens when your heart longs for God, when you become thirsty for his companionship.
Let the words of the Psalms become familiar one-liners in your life; carry a songsheet in your car so you can sing out a worship song in the midst of your routine; peek out a window each evening for a short "Yea, God" to each beautiful sunset. As you become more experienced in your life with God, worship can move out of its religious settings and happen anywhere.
While emotions play a part in worship, what's more important is the recognition that you are missing—and craving—intimacy with God.
So recall the songs, Scripture verses, or settings that help you stay aware of God's presence and make them a regular part of your life. Ponder the times you've tasted and seen that the Lord is good. If you let God draw you to himself rather than worship only because you "should," you'll find that in the in-between moments of life, you are thirsting for God. (See also Nehemiah 8:1-9:6; Nehemiah 12:27-43; Job 42:1-6.)
Good Words to Remember:
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? Psalm 42:2
Today's Challenge:
When has God been good to you? Recall those moments.
