Sometimes I get upset and angry with my kids. How can I maintain a loving attitude when I'm about to explode?
Remember how much God's love and patience means to you.
Titus 3:3-8

Parenting is probably the most challenging task you'll ever undertake. Many times your children can take you to the limits of your wisdom, patience, love, and understanding. Parenting is stressful! It helps if you remember God's compassion toward you in those moments when you feel as though you are being pushed to your limit.

When you remember how God extends compassion rather than judgment to you, you'll be more able to extend that grace to your children when they need it. If necessary, in the most stressful moments, slow down, breathe deeply, and ask yourselves what you really want to demonstrate in that moment? Then you can make a choice to respond in a way that's consistent with whom you are in Christ.

Self-control isn't a discipline imposed from outside yourself, but a strong choice you make from within to behave in ways that are consistent with God's best. By quieting yourself, experiencing God's compassion, and inviting the Holy Spirit to flood your being, you'll be more able to respond to your children with love. (See also Proverbs 15:1-4, 18; Matthew 11:25-29.)

Good Words to Remember:
The kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared. Titus 3:4

Today's Challenge:
When your temper begins to fail, remember the old adage—count to ten before you speak!
