How can I be more confident about my work?
God is your silent partner at work.
Psalm 108 | posted 1/30/2009

It may appear that you are alone as you sit at your computer keyboard, stand as a solitary adult in a roomful of children, perch at the head of a table calling a meeting to order, or wait at your cash register, but that's an illusion. In reality, God is beside you at your workplace—in stuffy meetings, on windy playgrounds, at cluttered sales counters. In all these places, you talk, listen, and offer assistance with the watchful companionship of the Holy Spirit.

God, your constant partner, provides what you need and opens your eyes to the people around you: Who is hurting? Who is distracted? Who is greedy for power? This kind of guidance can help you work through the land mines of office politics and childish power plays. Others can make up self-promoting rules and play by them, but your partnership with God reminds you that you work with a different heart. You cannot use a coworker to advance your causes, and you cannot force your opinion on others, but you can rely on God to advance your causes as needed. He will defend you from those who oppose you. You are not left alone.

If possible, keep some physical object at your workplace to remind you that God is your partner—a card, a candle, a tiny rock. Your silent partner is alive and active where you work, waiting for you to acknowledge him. (See also Deuteronomy 31:1-6; Joshua 1:1-9; Psalm 73:21-28; 1 John 3:19-24.)

Good Words to Remember:

Your mercy is great above the heavens, and your truth reaches to the clouds. Psalm 108:4

Today's Challenge:

Do you treat God as your silent partner? In what way?
