Sometimes I think it's okay to work while my kids are young; other times I'm not sure. How can I be certain I'm making the best decision for my family?
Check the motives behind your decision.
Proverbs 16:1-3
Do you truly want what's best for everyone concerned? Or do your motives lean more toward your own self-interest? These verses are a reminder that "the LORD weighs the spirits" (16:2) and that you should share your plans with the Lord in order to succeed (16:3). Talking your concerns over with your family and praying about them together is the first step. If you are still uncertain about your decision, ask some friends from your Christian community to pray with you for guidance.
Once you and your family agree on what seems best for you, move ahead with your plans. You can be confident that "the answer of the tongue is from the LORD" (16:1) with the plans you make. (See also Romans 14:13-23; Titus 2:3-8.)
Good Words to Remember:
Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established. Proverbs 16:3
Today's Challenge:
Have you asked God for His input on your decisions? Why, or why not?
