Sometimes I think it's okay to work while my kids are young; other times I'm not sure. How can I be certain I'm making the best decision for my family?
Seek God's wisdom in your decision.
Romans 14:13-23
No matter where you turn, you can find advice on the work-versus-stay-at-home decision. And each person will tell you with personal certainty what's right and what's wrong. Filter out the money aspect; you can usually live on less. Filter out the career aspect; you may find ways to work from home and still stay on track with your chosen vocation. Filter out social pressure; you can build support on both sides of the argument.
Because only God can determine what's right and wrong, let him be your main guide. Call on his Holy Spirit to help you focus on what's best for your children. How can you best give the attention and structure your children need? What values are you teaching by going to work outside the home or by working within your home? How will you provide a parent presencewill your spouse be at home while you work, and you at home while your spouse works? How are you portioning your energy and why? God himself will help you answer these questions and make your decision. (See also Proverbs 16:1-3; Titus 2:3-8.)
Good Words to Remember:
The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. Romans 14:17, 18
Today's Challenge:
Have you asked God what he wants you to do?
