Video projector manufacturers continue to push the boundaries of power and compactness. Large venue projectors offer more brightness, color, and contrast, while portable projectors pack more power and functionality in increasingly smaller packages. In between, prices continue to fall and features abound, giving churches more value per dollar than ever before. Here is a sampling of some newer models that cover the gamut of applications.

CHRISTIE DS+300

This 6.3-pound, single-chip DLP projector offers 3,300 ANSI lumens, SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050) resolution, 2,500:1 contrast ratio, and BrilliantColor™ multi-primary image processing. Developed by Texas Instruments, BrilliantColor™ enhances color saturation capabilities with an expanded gamut of up to six primary colors to deliver more vivid images. Compatible with virtually any data source up to UXGA (1,600 x 1,200) and HDTV formats up to 1080i. Ideal for limited-space installations. The DS+300W is a wide-angle lens model.

CHRISTIE ROADSTER HD18K

This three-chip DLP projector delivers 17,500 ANSI lumens with Xenon illumination. This is a true HD (1,920 x 1,080) engine with 1,600-2,000:1 full-field contrast ratio. Built-in stacking and rigging points. User-replaceable bulbs feature lower power consumption.

Every projector in Christie's HD Series displays both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios, with HD 4:4:4 capabilities and digital black level control that can be used with the built-in edge blending feature. These projectors include seamless switching, picture-in-picture, Christie LiteLOC™, which enables constant screen brightness, and the Christie ILS™ (Intelligent Lens System) for zoom and focus. Can be networked for remote monitoring and control.

DUKANE IMAGEPRO 8066™

This portable LCD projector has 2,000 ANSI lumens, SVGA (800 x 600) resolution, and 400:1 contrast ratio. Auto configuration makes it easy to set-up and start your presentation. Ample connections permit use in various situations, and the quiet fan will not interfere with your message. It can also be permanently installed using the optional ceiling mount. Five-year limited warranty and one-year "peace-of-mind" loaner program. Starting at $945 MSRP.

MITSUBISHI SD105U

This single-chip DLP projector features 1,600 ANSI lumens, 1,800:1 contrast ratio, and SVGA (800 x 600) resolution and is ideal for classrooms and meeting rooms. Flexible connectivity ports for video and computer sources make setup simple and easy. RS232 communication ties into third-party control systems and interactive whiteboard systems. Security features include password-protected menu locks and an anti-theft anchor. Two-year Express Replacement Assistance program and two-year limited warranty on parts and labor. $599 MSRP.
