 Christian History, Fall 1999
Best kept secret at Christian History
We recently surveyed our readers about their Internet practices and were shocked to discover that very few (a fraction of a percent!) subscribe to our weekly CH Online Newsletter. And about 50 percent have never even heard of it!
Let's amend that situation immediately.
The CH Online Newsletter can be sent to your e-mail box each week (usually Friday). In each newsletter, you'll find:
(a) A brief article that examines the religious background of a news story, or introduces readers to a current book on Christian history, or explains the Christian background of an upcoming holiday.
(b) "This Week in Christian History": about 15 to 25 anniversaries of key events that took place in church history.
(c) A few odds and ends (introduction to the CH website article of the week, CH staff news, etc.).
How much does it cost? Nothing.
How many ads will you have to endure? None.
If you subscribe and don't like it, is it easy to unsubscribe? Indeed.
What's the catch? Well, you have to be interested in the current and ongoing relevance of Christian history. The CH Online Newsletter is one way we're extending the mission of the magazine: to communicate our Christian heritage in an informed and accessible way.
The best way to subscribe is by going to (www.christianhistory.net) and clicking on the button for the free newsletter.
What's happening at CH?
With this issue we welcome two new staff members. Elesha Coffman is our new assistant editor. She is a graduate of Wheaton College (with a degree in literature) and has been with our parent company, Christianity Today International, for the last couple of years. She's most recently been working with Campus Life, but she got her start here by helping us put together the first Christian History CD-ROM.
Well, she's just in time to help us work on the revised edition, due out in spring 2000! But that's just one of her jobs. Mostly she'll edit the CH Online Newsletter and the magazine. CH readers have already been treated to her writing in our David Livingstone issue (number 56): see "Accidental Missionary".
Many of you were alarmed when we said goodbye to Mary Ann Jeffreys, wondering if we would be able to find another capable of finding as many wonderful images to grace the pages of the magazine. Well, Janine Petry is just that sort of person, and we welcome her as our new editorial coordinator. Janine comes to us from VIRTUE (another sister publication). She is working on her M.A. in Christian education at Wheaton.
