Thanks a Lot! 10 ways to express your gratitude this Thanksgiving. by Heather Scheiwe
Buy your coach a huge container of sports drink, tape a piece of blank paper over the label, and have everyone on your team write a note of thanks on it.
Show up unexpectedly to a sibling's band rehearsal/sports practice/whatever. Cheer them on (if it's appropriate!) and offer to take them out for ice cream afterward. Use the time together to compliment them for their talents and thank them for being an example of hard work in action.
Grab some youth group friends and offer to lead for an evening so your youth leader can just sit back and enjoy without having to plan.
Say thanks to your city government by calling their office or writing them a quick note. With the amount of complaints they receive, it will be refreshing to hear some encouragement!
Stick a note in front of a library book you are returning so when the librarian checks the book in, she gets a surprise "thank you."
Write a poem or letter of thanks to a friend and submit it to your school newspaper. They're often looking to print students' work and it's a great way to publicly proclaim how cool your friend is.
Ask to look at old pictures and hear stories from your grandparents' (or another elderly person's) past. Thank them for their example and contributions to making this nation what it is today. You have many opportunities because of them, and they would love to share their stories with you.
Leave a message on a chalkboard at school for the custodians to see. They're some of the least thanked people in school, but without them, you wouldn't have much of a school to attend!
Bake a gigantic cookie and use decorative icing to write things your mom or grandma has done for you since you were little that you appreciate (for example: baked you chocolate chip cookies, driven you to practice, sung you to sleep, etc.).
Check with a friend's favorite radio station to see if they'd read a thank you message when you know she or he will be listening.
If you decide you want to keep Ignite Your Faith coming, honor your invoice for just $19.95 and receive eight more issues, a full year in all. If not, simply write "cancel" across the invoice and return it. The trial issue is yours to keep, regardless.
