British band Steve mixes creative praise with driving rock

British band Steve has developed a reputation as a strong live act, and its full-length album, Falling Down, captures its solid rock & roll and a knack for driving jams.

Keen musicianship aside, the key to Steve is a passion for delivering a Christian message.

Falling Down's songs depict the yearnings of a Christian. On "Hunger," lead vocalist Neil Wilson sings, "You're all I want. … all I need, / I'm already gone, / 'cause I'm chasing my hunger for heaven."

Part of that journey is to praise God in amusing ways. In "M," the band recreates an epic James Bond theme song about another hero's master plan "to save the world and not think twice."

The stirring piano-based "I Am Here" searches for God's presence in times of need. "Raise your head and embrace the brighter day," the song urges, "because I am here now."

The official site of the band says that while none of the members are named Steve they know a lot of people who are. Hence, they called the band "Steve."

ChristianityToday.com's music section said Falling Down sounds 'a little too much like Delirious at times, but … I believe we can expect great things from Steve for years to come."
