The gent behind Joey's Dream is simply known as Joey here, but is best known as Joey the Jerk when he performs with the hip-hop collective LA Symphony. On his debut solo effort, he only hints at his rap roots, instead centering the music on a neo-soul sound and his velvety vocals. Joey paints with a full palette of emotional colors, sharing the joy of parenthood, sadness with a culture that doesn't "practice what we preach," and a touch of anger at his own indifference and sinful nature. It's an indemnifying and inspiring piece of work.
