But having said that, I am sure the book will help many who are passing through what Gordon MacDonald called, 'broken world experiences."

Though I have not experienced any tragedy of the magnitude the author has, like all people I have had my shattering experiences. I certainly believe that God repairs broken lives. But I wonder if we say enough about the processes He uses to do that? And the time it takes to see it happen. Although true that my struggle is somehow caught up in the great redemptive drama, that fact alone does not keep me from weeping my eyes out. A friend of mine likes to quote this verse from an old gospel song, "Down in the human heart, crushed by the Tempter, feelings lie buried that grace can restore. Touched by a loving hand, wakened by kindness, chords that were broken can vibrate once more." God does that, but He often does it through the touch of a loving human hand.
