I have mixed feelings on this type of outreach. When the SuperBowl is shown in the sanctuary, who decideds which commercials should be shown at the altar? Beer? OK if they're clean? What if they're "iffy"? Last year my young teenage son sat and watched a room full of Christian men choose not to look away or not to turn off suggestive commercials. What did that teach him? The year they chose to NOT show the commercials, in deference to the holiness of the sanctuary, many people complained. On the other hand, it does bring in some unchurched folks. I guess I would feel more comfortable if it were not shown in the sanctuary, and with someone in charge to have the courage to stand against inappropriate material, to model for our sons just how Christian men need to be different.

I think Charles' comments are akin to the Pharisees who criticized Jesus for eating with tax collectors. I wonder how many adults his church has brought to Christ this year. Thankfully, most churches ARE looking at innovative ways to share the Gospel to the lost and dying, realizing this is much more important than the tradition of a routine man-ordained Sunday night service.
