What differences did you notice between American and international Passion conference attendees?

By my observation the world is shrinking. Once you put a room full of 18-year-olds together, you realize how small the world is getting. Our audiences ...

Brian…because you agree with Billy and Chuck, I disagree with you. Plus your disrespectful “do the math Louie” and “selling your house” comments are completely inappropriate directed to a man who has proclaimed so much more about God with his life than you with your statistics. Again….read 1 Cor 5:12…and the rest of it and you’ll see that your comments are completely out of line.

Billy…now that Louie’s off your pedestal, replace him with Christ…and get fervently busy yourself reading and applying what’s in your own copy of Operation World. Throw in the Bible too and you’ll see that all your “doing” is of absolutely no profit to you or anyone else if you don’t have charity (love). (1 Cor 13:1) Chuck…so many earnest prayers have been prayed for this church and your trite comment about the “shibboleth” is a slap in the face to your own brothers and sisters who have prayed so earnestly. You really owe them an apology….at least give them a chance to actually mess up rather than laden them with your assumptions that they will. And hopefully, in all your “going to church” you’ll get a little more respect for those who labor so diligently in Christ (1 Cor. 5:12 - We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work…)

The article is very good. Some of these comments – very poor. I’ve never met Louie personally, though I’ve heard the man speak. He’s very edifying. Scott, Billy, Chuck and Brian…you guys are not. So many have really been inspired by this church effort and your words behave like thieves – stirring up strife and stealing the joy these people should be allowed to experience. You boys sound like you need some! Scott (Col.3:8 - But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.). You’d probably do well to read the rest of the book too. Your comment is xtremely irreverent and irrelevant considering the meaning of “six steps” as it relates to carrying the Ark and just how sacred its meaning is to God Himself….go read the story. Billy and Chuck, I agree! If anything, they should plant a church in England or Canada! (Can you consider that missions?). If so, then I guess they can plant in SF or NYC, where many more millions don't go to church at all! 300,000 vs 10+ millions! Do the math Louie, or is it you have a hard time selling your house in this market? Less than 1/2% of Christians live in the 10x40 Window, and they go plant a church where 73% of Atlantans go to church on a regular basis. Do the math.

The Super Star Church. And North Point is called "Six Flags over Jesus." They won't take over the world, but they'll take, unfortunately, a large portion of churched people. They preach and sing to the choir, be clear of that. While outreach will be the shibboleth thrown around, like North Point that is 95% churched people transferring to them, Passion City will draw the "American Idol" mindset, who are looking for "stars" to idolize, not to worship God primarily. I may be wrong with some people, but that is the general rule of thumb. I've seen fellow members of my church leave a good church to go to a "Video Church" (aka Buckhead Church) so they can sit and pine the bench, sort of speak. ONE POSITIVE: Nominal and non-action Christians leave their respective churches, so they no longer "sap away" the energy of the church. Fair trade off...if seen in an optimist point of view.

I'm afraid Giglio just plummeted in my estimation. All this talk of "passion for God's name" and then you go and plant a church in Atlanta?!!! Get real!!! And his argument is that 300,000 of the city's 5,000,000 citizens don't have a church?!! Somebody buy this guy a copy of Operation World.

I appreciate letting Louie talk about their plans. Passion's never been incredibly easy to explain to anybody skeptical, but their focused, do-one-thing-and-do-it-great college ministry has impacted a decade's worth of college students. (Their "one thing" is emphasizing the spread of God's fame.) My biggest fear isn't that Passion will "take over Atlanta" (or the world) in an unhealthy way; my biggest fear is that adding an additional emphasis will spread them too thin. But it probably makes good sense to give the benefit of the doubt to some guys and gals who, so far, may have directly and indirectly impacted Christians presently aged 18-30 more than any other Christian ministry. And hooray for loving the local church, too.
