The Giuliani Choice
Conservative leaders doubt his support among evangelicals will last.

Despite a strong showing of evangelical support for Republican presidential hopeful Rudolph Giuliani, evangelical leaders predict that the former New York mayor's liberal social views and rocky personal ...

Guliani is a slimy opportunist and I honestly don't think he has a clue. America needs Ron Paul in the White House. Go to ronpaul2008.com and do your homework - he's got a flawless voting record and is a strict-constitutionalist.

Giuliani is our best candidate, far and away, on national defense and fiscal issues. On social matters, he raises concerns, but let us not forget that the executive branch has little control over this, and he has already promised to appoint strict constructionists. I find Giuliani's promise to appoint strict constructionists more credible than, say, Romney, because Giuliani is also intellectually honest in his disagreements with some conservatives rather than trying to pander for support. Giuliani, unlike Romney or Thompson, also defeats the socialist Democrats. I will be voting for Giuliani in the primary.

There is no way to understate how foolish the evangelical fools are being fooled into being when they support Giuliani. This "Christian" support of Giuliani shows just how few people within the "church" are actually trusting the Lord God Almighty. Trust in the Lord, and stop bowing to the idols of the State, and your whimpering fears about Islamic terrorism which you have all been manipulated by for the purpose of giving all power to the State, and in the process, you foolish people, you have lost your nation to a devilish world system of AntiChrist power. You have no idea how foolish it is to endorse Rudolph Giuliani for President, because your eyes are sealed shut to truth, thanks in part to Americans worship of money and power. We're totally under God's Holy wrath. Good night, America. Thanks a lot, purpose drivel "church," for selling us all into slavery with your merchandising of the foolish American people. We're done for, so go ahead and seal it up, Vote Giuliani!!!

It is interesting to read and hear how Christians are finding a variety of ways to support different GOP presidential candidates this tiime around. In this case Mr. Giuliani. who has had a couple of messy divorces, danced in NYC gay parades, appointed questional people within his City adminstration. Ok, we are not going to judge, we will forgive, we will overlook ecomonics, medical concern, etc, and focus on abortion and gays because somehow, someway, somewhere they must be connected. And, if the right candidate does not surface, we as evangelicals will patriotically stay home and not vote. Right. So go for it Rudy. Many are publically blinded by the GOP, privately taking the time to realize there are candidates across the aisle who are actually a lot closer to our beliefs. Or, concerned about issues that must addressed and changed for our families, neighborhoods, cities and country to move forward. Again; go for it Rudy, somehow you're a GOP canidate we talking about you. (1 star)

However, one can only but wonder as these debates go on, where the word abortion (the killing of the most innocent of all human life) flies back and forth, from party to party and from candidate to candidate, especially so, in the Republican party in the Nation under God, as the whole world looks on and in, while America's most horrendous war machinery is all over the world to kill those who wish to kill Americans, with the claim that America is the number one nation defending human life and yet, America is already the mass grave of 50+ millions of unborn babies with the butcher shops adding daily several thousands more? Never to forget, as America's tobacco industry also yearly murders over 400000+ Americans with all the suffering by the families involved. These American killing machines, also make most of their money selling this poison to the ignorants all over the world, where only God can tell how many America kills there. So, America is actually serving Satan rather than God?

Good article but a little too brief. What I wish these articles would show more is that there are more views politically in evangelicalism besides conservative views. We have to remember that we are dealing with political parties here that just care about staying in power and they will go with the winning horse, no matter his morality or faith. I am thankful for this election because it is showing evangelicals that our allegiance should be to the Lord and His Kingdom, not to any party that claims to go to bat for us. The GOP has not done so in six years of power and they have done even worse by claiming the name of God and allowing ethical failure after failure. They have the same moral problems as many evangelical conservatives bash Democrats for. It's time we stopped caring about the 'family values' issues above all. Let's care about ethical politicians. Let's care about men with real leadership ability. Let's care about character.

You know the more I look at my flaws the more I realize my judgment is misplaced; God is my judge! In this seductive world human falibility will be susceptible to temptation and an honest look at true motives in 'good' decision making will show me lacking in spirit and in truth. Think 'logs, planks nd eyes my dear friends as you and I judge everyone else. Ultimately the path to peace and contentment in our world is inclusive not exlusive; including not excluding. By their fruits shall they be known is the obvious measure of suitability and we must respond to good fruits (or lack of them) according to our conscience. Overall fellow flawed believers remember that we are all sinners trying to get it right; once we start to think we are better than ANYONE else it all goes horribly wrong. God bless you and may the peace of The Lord Christ go with you.

Im a Christian, and a Giuliani guy.His 9/11 leadership is foremost. I am voting for the candidate that I percieve will be the toughest in the ongoing war on terror. If terrorists get their way and kill us, the views individuals have on abortion or gay rights will not matter. Second in importance is his record on crime. As a NYC resident, I can tell you firsthand that what he achieved in crime reduction and quality of life reforms after years of democrat/liberal neglect is remarkable. I differ with him on abortion, but given that he pledges to appoint conservative judges, he will not bear a deleterious impact on the pro life cause. Finally gay marriage... what's up Christians? How is Jesus glorified when his flock is percieved as unloving and bigoted?Unquestionably, homosexuality is a sin, but why should the unsaved care about Biblical morality in their personal lives? Besides which, any married man who has done a double take at a pretty gal is guilty of adultery (Mat5:28).Which is worse?

Wow!! I really can't seem to find it in me to care one hoot about how another man is going to vote. I also will refrain from making any decision until it's time to vote. Voting for the less of the evils may be a way to go. Articles like this help in an awareness but some of the allegations leave some doubt as to validity. Believe not what you read or hear and only a percentage of what you see. Just because Evangelicals back one candidate or another is not enough to suade this old pentecostal and no amount of accusations without concrete proof will dissuade me either.

The comparison of Giuliani to Caligula is, I think, rather inappropriate. Is he a bit too liberal for my taste? Yes. But just remember this: the pro-choice justices on the Supreme Court weren't all appointed by pro-choice presidents. A pro-choice Republican like Giuliani--who is friends with Justice Scalia, and would like more Alitos and Roberts on the court--may not be as horrifying as one may think. Plus, as an evangelical, I care about national security. I have a daughter about to be born in a month, and I care about her safety. Which candidate will do the best to keep this nation safe? Yes, as a Christian, it would be nice to have someone as president who shares all of my beliefs, but frankly, I want a pit bull, and not a poodle, in the Oval Office.

I have voted Republican since 1980. In light of the current state of the union I am considering another choice. Here is my essential presidential criteria: Abortion: prefer the candidate be openly pro-life but I will not let this issue be a deal-breaker ... I will not be a single issue voter ... I will not be manipulated Decency: a decent human being that treats others (i.e. ex-wives) with civility and integrity and controls their tongue in public Energy: want a proponent of E85 Faith: someone who believes in God and/or lives by biblical convictions Immigration: earned amnesty for those here and strong borders to prevent more illegals Moderation: don't want a radical thinking wacko ... want someone who can compromise and find the middle ground Poverty: someone who has a heart for poverty issues like universal health Terrorism: strong person who knows how to deal with this issue using diplomacy instead of force. Google me to check out the complete list.

That evangelicals are considering Giuliani, a self-styled authoritarian, who though Catholic supports abortion & gay marriage & whose personal life resembles Caligula's is incomprehensible. Such hypocrisy would be laughable, if not pathetic. Giuliani told his 2nd wife that he planed to divorce her at a press conference. He appointed B. Carrick, a man with a criminal record as his chief of police and recommended him to Bush to head Home Land Security. I don't see how it would be possible for those wild eye evangelicals whom Bush convinced to vote against their own economic interests in 2004 because they were more worried that their gay neighbor having sex with another man or the woman across the street getting an abortion than how they were going to feed their children or pay for their medical expenses to even consider voting for someone like Giuliani. But then again, the field of candidates from which to choose is comprised of Caligula, a Mormon and a Dinosaur. Ouch!
