Weblog: The God Debates of '08
Plus: More tragedy for Iraq Christians, another blow to Iowa's faith-based prison program, America's new pilgrimage points, and other stories from online sources around the world.

Numerous e-mail messages and some other indications suggest that, while you readers really like the new CT Liveblog, you also miss the old CT Weblog. So Weblog is back. Still, I doubt that any of you ...

I really enjoy the Weblog and missed it for the time you were not providing it. It gives articles I do not see anywhere else. I think it would be great if you provided a Web log once a week. Then I could divide the number of articles by seven and then read it over the week until the next one. (I meant to choose 5 stars).

I read every weblog. I'm most interested in religous news outside the US. I like the fact that there are so many links because it provides depth in specific interests of mine. I value the summary lines, which allow me to get the gist of some stories without reading them, and I love the top five feature. In short, I hope you keep weblog the same except why not find someone who can produce it on a daily basis? And why is 95% of it American stories? There is so little about the third world, missions, or other faiths. Isn't anybody writing in English about these subjects? E.g., what's happening in the pro-life politics in third world countries? Can a donation to a foreign political group save more lives than giving to an American pro-life group? What's happening in God's mission to reach every ethnic group in the world? Etc.

I like the idea of an index at the top so I could jump directly to articles of interest. Also, your latest Weblog seemed to come out less than a week from the previous issue, and it had fewer articles. If this is intentional, I like the idea of fewer articles in each Weblog which is published more often than weekly. Other than these comments, let me jump on the bandwagon of "Hurrah for Weblog!! Well done!!" I currently am a missionary to Kenya, and this compilation of articles of interest to Christians, saves me much time and expense in research. Thank you, and God bless your efforts.

I like the weblog, and I do go through the whole thing, but it would be best if you did not repeat any articles. Or, only do it once a week instead of repeating the same or almost the same one.

I have sorely missed this Weblog format...I did not appreciate the loose and expansive treatment on liveblog. The format of Weblog lends itself to a speedy survey, and those articles that interest me are immdeiately available by the direct link after the head. Far better use of my time. I rarely took the time to scan the whole of LIveblog, but I regularly scanned, and read in depth, Weblog. Please, keep it for us.

I like the summaries at the top then I look at the "More articles" for stories that may be of interest. No I don't read all of the links but it gives me a great cross section of points of view. I'm glad Weblog is back.

Weblog is long and dense--and those are just a couple of its endearing qualities. I'm sure it's easy to look at it and think, "This is far too long, " or "This is too much information...who has the time?" The vast collection that is Weblog is simply a tool and you would likely be surprised by the frequency and creative ways that regular Weblog devotees choose to engage, reference, use , and process the information that you conveniently bring together in one spot. As a faithful and long time WL devotee, I'm glad it's back!

I read the highlight summaries at the top. I used to read some of the articles on current controversies (like the Anglican schism), and I learned a lot about the viewpoints out there. But, to be honest, in the end I would just get too angry & frustrated, and so I scaled back a lot. (Note that I didn't say I am proud of that decision.)

I have found Weblog to be very helpful. I am a Pastor and I use this for research. Thanks for bringing it back.

Thank you. I have missed the old CT weblog A LOT. Part of my job is to keep a Christian author and speaker updated on current events and also new trends. CT weblog made my job so much easier! And I have missed it - and I am glad that it is back.

Thanks for bringing back the Weblog. My only suggestion would be to maybe create a clickable index so people can jump to articles on the topic of their choice. I especially like the coverage of international events and the balanced coverage of domestic events.

Thanks for bring back the Weblog! I really enjoy it. While I also will read the Liveblog, the Weblog is an invaluable source of objective news on religion and politics. Keep it coming!!

I look forward to reading Weblog every week. I'm most interested in references to missions and ministry, film and entertainment, church life, youth, trends, and people. I'm least interested in national politics and most of the ethics coverage – although I follow environmentalist issues. Please keep publishing this great service.

Weblog is an essential part of my weekly reading. The breadth of stories available ensure that I am kept up to date with what is happening on topics that I would not normally be aware of or interested in. Glad that it is back ... and unlike some others, I do check out ALL the links, but don't visit every site.

Terry Laudett   Posted: June 09, 2007 6:56 AM
I have missed the variety of stories that I can find in this feature. I cannot get many of these stories anywhere else. Thank you for bringing it back.

I'm glad weblog is back. It can be a quick read for information of interest. Maybe it should cover major issues over the last three months or so.

By far prefer CT Weblog to CT Liveblog, which I stopped reading after a couple of visits. Please provide it regularly.

Mark Kruger   Posted: June 08, 2007 3:04 PM
I really enjoy accessing your weblog. I find it extremely informative and helpful. I also appreciate that you include articles relating to goings-on in my own country of Canada. Please continue providing this excellent service!

I like Weblog as is. It allows me to keep up on a number of topics, frankly including some which I think would not be covered ordinarily by Christianity Today. Keep up the good work.

Weblog is a keeper. It is an electronic version of People magazine for the Christian culture. After a quick perusal you can engage in a conversation regarding the latest issues and leave the impression that you are informed. The next evolutionary stage of this is to create the C network as an alternative to the E network. More seriously, Weblog once week is helpful to me as in a brief amount of time I can stay informed on some key issues. Weblog does provide information on world hunger and persectution issues as I find that it is easy for me to ignore the persecuted and impoverished church throughout the world and to focus only on the affluent North American church. I hope you will keep some form of Weblog.

Warren Bird   Posted: June 08, 2007 12:04 PM
DELIGHTED to see that Weblog is back; thank you Ted Olsen. I read lots of clips from each edition of Weblog. I like it much better than Liveblog (but I read that too).

Ethel Steadman   Posted: June 08, 2007 11:58 AM
Thank you for bring weblog back! I read it and often check out most or all of the links to see what interests me!

Mr. Abrahamson   Posted: June 08, 2007 7:15 AM
Mr. Olsen: How dare you insinuate that we don't read ALL of your blogs and links. We do so all day. Every Day. The only thing we want more of is more pix of you and your progeny. Your loyal reader. Mr. Abrahamson.

M J Spaulding   Posted: June 08, 2007 12:11 AM
I love the Weblog and thank you for bringing it back. I don't look every link but many of them I do. Sometimes I am at it for several hours. Not every day though. But I look at it every day and follow those things I am interested in every day. Please keep it going.

Chris Peltier   Posted: June 07, 2007 4:13 PM
I missed weblog too - if you're looking to streamline, I think you could leave out most of the scandel related material where a pastor in Iowa has an affair or the latest church treasurer takes money. There are some things like this that are high-profile or national in scope enough to be news-worthy, but the rest seems kind of sordid. Keep up the good work!
