Southern Baptists debate the role of their Message in hiring, firing.

It's anybody's guess what messengers to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) annual June meeting intended when they approved a motion on the Baptist Faith and Message (BFM). This much at least is clear: ...

You cannot have a 'relationship' with Jesus as long as you are killing His Fathers children, our troops, the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. Just exactly who would Jesus kill? The only way you can have a 'relationship; with Jesus is if you are guilty of the sin of PRIDE, making oneself equal to God. George Bush is your savior because he said he is Jesus Christ. ...and the worst of these is the first...(referring to the cardinal sin of PRIDE). The only cure for the sin of PRIDE is the virtue of HUMILITY. All the enablers of George Bush and the Bush family of criminals are totally bereft of HUMILITY including your brethern the Catholic Church, my church but certainly not me. Can anyone imagine any evangelical fundamentalist leader(Robertson, Dobson etc) and the right wing Catholics(O'Reilly, Hannity, Scarborough, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert etc) ever showing any real HUMILITY. Sure they can fake it but just watch them kill so many others. Abortion may be death vut so is your war.

This is why it's so important to have a relationship with Jesus based upon faith, revealed by the Holy Spirit, then it is to have a religion. There is going to come a time when men will worship God in truth and in spirit. Could it be today? It's through the blood of Christ that we have light as well as sight, both being given through grace, and it's this grace that allows us to understand scripture as we grow in obedience. This is what happens when the churches become secular.

Yuk. I can think of few other reactions to the time, energy and ego that has been expended by this group of religious men.

When denominational TRADITIONS outweigh bibliocal doctrine we find domination. In order to dominate, there has to be a formula of exclusion. SBC excludes on the basis of traditions established by MAN without regard to biblical doctrine and truth.

As a former SBC missionary, I can say that the convention's fears of becoming too legalistic and too narrow are unfounded. They're way pass that! I'm so glad I don't work for them anymore!
