Allah's Continent?
Not so fast, says Philip Jenkins in God's Continent.

As I consider God's Continent: Christianity, Islam, and Europe's Religious Crisis (Oxford), it occurs to me that there are at least two kinds of contrarians.

Lets just all Embrace each other and join the Great CoMmission for eturnal fun fornication peace and pleasure; Child hood is c all in g(od). Stop labeling good things as bad things and bad things as good things its Authenticity or an all out NEW CLEARest Nu~Clearer WAR so says all of FairArIeS The one and only true Eturnal GOD of LOVE AND WAR. Its a Masculine principle which is both masculine and feminine expressed as Masculine and Feminine principle which is all Femininie. What is Feminine is 1st Most holy and what is holy is sacred. Masculinity is 1st Most Sacred and Holy. That which is Sacraficed is holy And That which is kept is Sacred So Know thy self Well because you will decide your own fate. I AM THE MOST SACRED One AND THE MOiST HOLY ONE NO ONE may be LESS than ME or More than ME I Contain all and project all.

In the end, it doesn't matter what we FEAR or not, God's Will is all that matters. Islam is a beautiful pluralistic faith often demonized in the West and by many so-called "Christians." Positive material on Islam exists here on the CT website as well! We in the West definitley need to educate ourselves about Islam without letting our fears getting in the way!

"Allah" is not the Christian or Jewish God but a distorted version created by Mohammed. Efforts to equate the two are not theologically sound. And I certainly hope this article is right that Europe will have a revival of Christian hope...

Not so fast! Allah is a 'god' who claims that Jesus is not his son but Mohammed is his messenger. The allah of the Koran is not the Allah of the Bible.Any comparison with the word Dios in spanish is irrelevant. In the middle eastern context the use of Allah is Ok as all middle easterners are familiar with the difference in the 'Allah' of the bible and the allah of the Koran.Any misapplication of the word allah in the western context is bound to cause confusion similar to the idea of 'Jehovah' in the bible. The word Jehovah was used by the king James translators as a literary device to indicate God who revealed himself as 'I AM' to Abraham. Now you have a whole generation of nitwits who worship a literary device.

Jesus is the son of Allah,Mohammad is not, there is abit of difference, being lebanese when I say Alaah I think of my GOD,and the son of God.Does't mean I say I love Allah I'm saying I'm muslim,it's sad how we all believe in one God we are at war of who's God who,but such is our times.I love the muslim people as I love the christian people,we should just all get along.

Yes, Allah means God in Arabic. But most people would associate it with The Muslim god, and thus unless it is an Arabic Christian using it, it is better to stick with His other names.

BRAVO DAVE, MANY CHRISTIANS DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT ALLAH MEANS GOD IN ARABIC, THE SAME GOD YOU AND I WORSHIP. JUST LIKE DIOS IS GOD IN SPANISH. I DO NOT KNOW WHEN PEOPLE WILL GET IT BUT ALLAH IS GOD IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE.

Low stars for the reviewer, not Jenkins. I'm sorry to see the persistent misuse of "Allah" which is the name that Arab Christians and Arab translations use for the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Jesus.
