Q&A: Sam Brownback
The Republican senator said he could offer a promising package to evangelical voters.

Republican senator Sam Brownback announced his bid for the presidency in early 2007, after spending the night in the Louisiana State Penitentiary to promote faith-based prison programs. He withdrew from ...

For a long time the best kept secret in American politics has been Congressman Ron Paul. Dr. Ron Paul has stood the test of time. He has been faithful to God in every area of his life. And you can bet that God has sent him for this time in our nation's history as an opportunity to turn away from evil in government. This is not just a political race. This is a warning from God. Turn from evil. And go back to the ways He has laid out in our Divinely inspired Constitution -- or judgement will be upon this nation. As Lou Engle has conveyed through the Call, "We've spent 40 years in the desert because we went astray in 1967. It's been 40 years and God is giving us a chance to turn. Now its up to us to beg God for discernment -- something the church has gradually lost over the last 10 years -- and "see" what He is trying to do through one man, Ron Paul.

I certainly concur with supporting Ron Paul. If we want to assure our right to freedom as put forth in the Constitution (a document I believe God created for us) we need to support a man who has ALWAYS supported the 'Constitution. May Jesus be praised for allowing us the freedom to worship as we can right now in this country!

I’m sorry to hear about Sam Brownback dropping out of the race. It definitely reduces the chance of us getting a President who is an honest, God-fearing man determined to fight for the unborn. However, all hope is not lost. There is still Hope for America . That hope can become a reality if you join me in the Ron Paul Revolution! Dr. Paul is an OB/GYN who has delivered over 4,000 babies and also sponsored the Sanctity of Life bill which would outlaw abortions immediately. Dr. Paul is a devout Christian, a fact that is often overlooked. In his words: “I have never been one who is comfortable talking about my faith in the political arena. In fact, the pandering that typically occurs in the election season I find to be distasteful. But for those who have asked, I freely confess that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior, and that I seek His guidance in all that I do. I know, as you do, that our freedoms come not from man, but from God. My record of public service reflects my

How unsurprising that CT Magazine is interviewing this nobody who is a total non-contender when there is Congressman Ron Paul, a near perfect, Founding Father material man of near perfect integrity who has espoused AND lived out his Christian belief in the public office he is so faithful to. Ron Paul 2008, the only choice Christians have without incurring God's wrath, for sure.

I have to agree with the other comment that this article is poorly timed in that Brownback announced today he's out of the race. Secondly, while many of Brownback's policy ideas are mindful of "the culture of Life" (and I'm happy for that), he offers a pretty unsatisfactory answer in regards to immigration: he breaks with his own Catholic bishops on the issue succumbing to "what the people want" knowing full well the reaction against illegal immigration is about xenophobia. Interestingly, polls show that "the people" still want Roe v. Wade, but obviously Brownback's prolife convictions don't succumb to this.

I received the email about the Sam Brownback interview and all the postings I see are dated on Thursday October 18, 2007. Senator Brownback is scheduled to hold a press conference on October 19, 2007. There, he will withdraw from the race, despite saying he would not in your interview. And my favorite Christian news source will appear mighty foolish... Christianity Today is not a dairy that has to unload milk the day before the expiration date. If you have an article that becomes obsolete before its planned release, don't run it. Revise it. Or trash it. You need to address and inform serious people who pay attention. Not cause them to roll their eyes dismissively.

It's so interesting that "compassionate" conservatism (a failed experiment that has had 8 years to prove itself) involves being completely non-compassionate to those whose families will be torn apart by heartless immigration laws. Christ is dishonored when we say "it's the law, so let's blindly follow it" when it completely disregards those most disenfranchised in our society. Stock deportation is not an option because most of those "illegals" have children here who are American citizens by birth (maybe one of them will become president one day and show people what real Christ-like compassion looks like!). A pro-life stance must involve the valuing of all life as God values it.

Very good article. Glad to learn more about Sam Brownback. I will check out more info on the web. I am not totally satisfied with the front running candidates.
