Haggard Reprimanded
Former president of the NAE told to stop seeking financial support.

A request from Ted Haggard for money to keep his family afloat was "inappropriate" and "unacceptable," according to the pastors overseeing his restoration.

In late August, the former president of the National ...

He does have a job. His job is begging all of us for money.

Yes, Brandon, that's exactly what I wondered. Could it be because CT is a right-wing mouthpiece and that they wanted to keep quiet as long as possible?

Well, Ted will learn in his first grad course on counseling, that he needs to take care of his own issues before he can help others - WONDED HEALERS... sad to watch.

Typical, typical, typical..... Where is the practical and visible application of Galatians 6:1-10? I see precious little application of James 5:13-20, the Sacrament of Repentance and Restoration. Where is the practice of 2nd Corinthians 2:5-11? In all these passages we find penance is designed to return people and leaders to the positions they had before their spiritual lapse. This is what God did with David and Peter. Why do these modern pharisees not follow the clear biblical pattern? Claiming to be the christian arm that most clearly expresses the forgiveness and grace of God, they do not in practice exhibit the same! What we usually see in these cases is someone disbarred as it were and relegated to the garbage heap of life. Perhaps they can open up a street mission in the slums, while others step in to what they helped build and use it for their benefit. Or, in the case of PTL, they have a feeding frenzy and dismember the spoils of their christian "housecleaning."

Obviously, Ted Haggard feels a sense of entitlement to other people's money, a far-too-common trait among current Evangelical leaders. The best way for him to get healed is to put duct tape over his mouth and serve others quietly and anonymously in some obscure corner of the universe. Also, like I once told my 17-year-old son: "GET A JOB!" What is he thinking when he asks others to support his family? Hasn't he ignored their needs enough as it is??

Wow, Did it ever occur to Ted that maybe he could get a job??? U know ... earn a living like the rest of us!

I view the fall of Ted Haggard much is the same way as the fall of Solomon. Both were anointed by God to build the Synagogue and both were anointed with Wisdom. I had the opportunity to hear Ted Haggard teach on numerous occasions and he was certainly anointed with the word of God, yet he chose to live in the world over the Spirit of the Lord. This whole dilemma is very unfortunate for Ted, his wife, and children. The family was well respected in the community.

While his mortal cronies usurp the DIVINE task of "restoring" him, outsiders are GAGGING at the sight of groupie-seeking evangelical hustlers and hucksters like this. The fact he thinks he deserves even one DIME from others says he is an UNREPENTANT Narcissist. Further proof that "once saved-always saved" is ERROR!! " 3 It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; . . 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but GOD, who gives you his Holy Spirit. . . . 11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. (I Thess. 4)

I find it very sad that Mr. Haggard is relegated to the role of practically a beggar for the financial survival of his family after being kicked out from his lofty role as head of his megachurch and president of the NAE where I'm sure he enjoyed the luxury of a pampered lifestyle with a lucrative salary. What's even sadder is the reality that all these so called Christian churches seem to be nothing more than money making enterprises for their founders and leaders who use the pulpit in the name of Christ to fleece their flocks and "make merchandise" of their members. How ironic that they are the very ones who keep bashing and condemns the Mormons to hell for supposedly being an evil and Satanic cult, yet you won't find a single one of that faith who will pastor or preach for a salary but rather for the love of the gospel and the Lord. Wonder how many evangelical pastors will stay on and continue to tend for their flocks if they are ever told they will no longer be paid. Anyone???

This situation will forever be messy, eh?

Thomas   Posted: October 23, 2007 4:38 PM
First of all, the man built from the ground up a thriving megachurch, why can't the members of his congregation vote weather or not to sustain him financially, even if he is to have no leadership role in the future. It's my understanding that his church was an independent and he instituted bylaws that held him accountable. He should be given credit for that alone. Most major independent churches have no governing measures to hold their leaders accountable in case of moral failings and use thier churches as their own piggybank and whorehouse!! This is a oppurtunity to show some grace, and help the man get on his feet, not to act like pharisees and humiliate him- thats why preachers like harold camping can establish himself, even if what he's spreading is heresy!
