God is not the one who causes our suffering...our choice is to choose God or not..and when Adam and Eve sinned.it caused all of us to be born in sin..our suffering is because of sin ,bad choices made without the guidance of the Lord.If we would trust and follow him..make him our first in life then things would be different...the bible tells us everything we need to know on everything choice in our life, from what to eat to how to act, dress and treat each other...but we choose sin and the devil...don't kid yourself that when you have not chose Christ that you are between sides, you are'nt..til you accept Jesus as savior and Lord ..you have chose satan..

I read with interest Christianity Today's citation of Geulich's view that "TO SEE GOD in terms of the Beatitude's promise [to the pure in heart] is to be able to stand before him, accepted into his presence at the Last Judgment." Whew! I'm sure glad that as a (sometimes impure) believer, I won't stand before him at the Last Judgment (John 5:24, 3:18, 5:28-29--cf. Rev. 20:4-6, 11-15)!

I really appreciate the different quotes which add depth, variety and reinforces the meaning of the verse. I look forward to more compilations.

I have recently read somewhere that a righteous man never owns a house and never chooses a wife. Presumably a man with a pure heart is a righteous man and then some. I my seventy years of live I don't know that I ever met a righteous man. Do we not all make efforts to live comfortable lives? Do not most of us have desire for the opposite sex, comfortable cloth, a warm bed, an exiting job that pays well, a comfortable ride and on and on? I hope God is more merciful. I don't understand why so many of us must suffer and why there is so much injustice, I don't understand God? I love life, I love righteousness and justice but I am disappointed with this insane and even obscene suffering that we must endure. Perhaps there would be more righteousness if life was a little less difficult. How do I love God if I don't understand what He is doing?

I am a regular reader of your quotations to stir heart and mind. Holiness is a must for anyone wishing to see God and purity of heart a must to overcome lustful life in the world. We will not only please God very much but dwell in His presence forever.I am really blessed of all the quotations here

It is a wonderful service to provide these insights into the Beattitudes. I've downloaded all to date to use in personal devotional times and in my work. The Sermon on the Mount is, for me, the most strategic passage in the Bible for all who would lay aside quibbling and get on with answering Christ's call to build God's kingdom on earth and to look toward the day when we will be with Him in that place prepared for those who love and serve God.

What a radical, dangerous demand our Lord makes to the modern mind and to this generation. The audacity of the demand for a pure heart is so counter-culture to an age that requires us to see things in shades of gray, all-fragmented and divided.
