Taking a Chance on Fu Yang
A photojournalist discovers God's surprises through one special-needs child.

One day, the Lord showed me how little I really knew what was best for my family and me. In the fall of 2003, a friend in Hong Kong sent me an e-mail. His wife is on the board of an organization that ...

What an inspirational story about the successful inclusion of a special needs child. As the director of a special needs foster care program, I wish there were more families willing to take children like this and make them part of their loving home.

I know many West parents come to China here to adopt children. I hope them to grow up happily in new home. And, more important, to know and believe Jesus Christ!

That is a moving story. It is very special that the adoption was all God's initiative and your joint response to him touching your heart. God bless your family and all those who were part of the story.

Hi! What a terrific article! We too have adopted a wonderful Chinese son!! We were living in China 8 years ago, my husband teaching at a Chinese University and I was working (volunteering) every day at a government orphanage. We were 56 and 58 years old and never thought of adopting!! (we have 2 married daughters in their 30's!!) God worked on us individually....much the same as with Louis and Dinah....and 15 months after applying for him (and ONLY him) we welcomed 4 year old Peter Xing Yan into our home!! There were many miracles along the way! He also is a special needs child. We are now back working in China just outside Beijing and Peter is thriving.....and so are we!! We are now 62 and 64 and Peter has been with us for 6 years.....we couldn't imagine life without him!! (we receive CT by email each week - thank you!!) I tried to click 5 stars for the rating but it wouldn't work!
