Why is a former Chinese official talking to Luis Palau?

In preparation for an evangelistic tour of China, Luis Palau befriended Zhao Qizheng, then minister of the State Council Information Office of China. They hit it off and eventually agreed to produce ...

I don ´t understand how a christian review can put in print this pro government propaganda. Christianity is a very old thing in China. It was imported by nestorian missionaries that went there in the eight century. There are christian sacred writings in chinese older than England. And all this chatter about colonialism, this is only an excuse to go on prosecuting and killing christians.

One thing overlooked by all, is that the Christianity in China today is homegrown, native to mainland China, a genuine work of the Holy Spirit. Just as the sudden rise in numbers of Messianic Jewish believers has been through no particular missionary work of any Christian missionary, so the rise of Christian believers in China has been. We've supplied some of the Bibles from the outside, but the growth and missionary work has been from within and is native to the land.

Last i checked the CT Poll on "What's the most powerful argument today against Christianity?", the "Leader" was "Christians do not live out their faith". Strong corelation here with what is up there in Zaho's statements. The "Good News" often does not come is very good packaging.

Dialogue is great, Jesus was not afraid to talk to anyone with respect and loving concern. A couple of corrections though, Taoism is a native Chinese philosophy which if tradition is correct was started by Lao Tzu (the old master) who was a contemporary of Confucius (master Kung). Siddhartha Gautauma, (the buddah), never went to China, on a white elephant or otherwise. Both were reformers seeking answers that the religion of their day was unable to answer. Buddah sought the answer to the problem of suffering, Lao Tzu the problem of meaning. Jesus gave the solution to both problems, God suffered in our place and gave us The Way (Dao) to eternal life through faith in Jesus.

I think it can be said, even within the USA, that those who've been hurt by representatives of any religion are less likely to accept that religion. I know several people, including myself, who have at least for a time, claimed to be atheist because of the hurt. There is within us the capacity, the desire to seek out a diety. The Bible tells us that God put that desire in us. What becomes of that desire can be affected by many things. When you combine that with the lack of exposure to a particular religion, you further limit the viability of it to the hearer. Jesus doesn't force religion on anyone, rather He tells us to love each other. We are commanded to spread the Good News, not beat it into any society. If we live as we're called to, we will demonstrate that Good News. This is a step in that direction.

I ask for blessings on both Mr Palau and Mr Zhao Qizheng for their efforts to mend past differences and getting to the heart of Christ's love for all nations. Keep up the dialogue, its worth it!!!

Matt. 2 we note that "... wise men came from the EAST...." might Chinese have been among them? Every one BELIEVES something and according to Noah W., what you believe that is your religion, therefore everyone is religious, including you and me (gg13@shaw.ca) besides that I am a follower of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Mr. Palau seems to represent a religion. Being a follower of Jesus is not representing a "religion". In that sense Christianity-as-religion is an invading weed. Jesus and his crucifixion, resurrection and personal ministry to us as his followers today is a pure flower: A lilly.
