'Fireproof' Is Hot'Fireproof' Is Hot
Meanwhile, Billy: The Early Years of Billy Graham bombs at box office.

Two years ago, Facing the Giants, a low-budget sports movie made by volunteers at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, grossed $10 million on a budget of only $100,000.

This year, Sherwood scored ...

My fiancee and I are participating in counseling with our Pastor for our re-marriage and saw Fireproof last weekend. It was excellent, and great timing for us! We were both a little misty eyed when the couple was on the verge of breaking up-but were glad when they got back together with the Lord's help. If all people would put God first in everything they do-this world would be a better place! Brightest blessings! Pam and Bobby

I would have had to drive over 100 miles to get to a theater that was showing Billy. I was excited about seeing "Billy" but I can't afford to drive that far! "Fireproof", however is at the theater 10 miles from my home.

I didn't even know Billy Graham had a movie out? Fire proof was awesome!

I guess my wife and I were two of the few people who saw "Billy: The early years." We thought it was an excellent family movie that told the story about how Billy Graham was called by God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The story was able to capture the love that Billy and Ruth had for each other. In my opinion this film was poorly promoted. Perhaps it will do better when released on DVD. If we don't support Christian films they won't be made.

I agree - the problem with Billy was it's limited release area. I know that in S. CA, many people were excited about it, but came to found out that it wasn't gonna be anywhere near us.

I am very happy to hear of the sucess of Fireproof!!! I love the creative genius of Kendricks brothers & Sherwood Baptist church in their efforts of reaching the masses for Christ through film. I thank God for them, and I pray that they continue to do what they do for the glory of God.

It comes down to advertising - there was little to none for Billy, save a few Christian websites.

Another great story-line for a movie is the book "Dinner with a Perfect Stranger" written by David Gregory - also the sequel called "A Day with a Perfect Stranger". If you haven't read this book yet, it's BRILLIANT! The story is about a highly-proffesional man spending on average 70-hours per week overtime at the office to avoid issues at home and other areas in his life. Christ meets with him in an unique way, build trust in Him and restores the man's character and ultimately his life to what God intended it to be. Great idea for actually a stage production, but can be adapted for a movie as well.

I concur with Dennis. My community has a Billy Graham museum, but if the film opened in the area I did not see it listed. We definitely would have gone to see this film, and I look forward to renting it when it comes out on DVD. As for "Fireproof" , it's a winner with the potential of changing lives and marriges. Way to go, Sherwood Baptist!

I thought "Fireproof" was an excellent film: great story, helpful, and very good acting, esply Kurt! I'm really glad that they did not have the obligatory. "Make your decision for Jesus" stuff, which is false teaching. But the film should do a lot to help marriages, probably mostly Christian ones.

Perhaps the bigger reason why "Billy" didn't do so well is that it played in a small portion of the country. "Fireproof" opened here the very first weekend and then spread to other theaters. "Billy" never came close to here. We never had a chance to see it. I would suggest that Sherwood has better skill at marketing and getting the movie out than the makers of "Billy" did.
