"CELEBRATION OF POETS" HUMMINGBIRD By Linda St. Amand Copyright 1999 Flutter, look about hummingbird. Green like the leaves on the trees. Sometimes it is hard to see you’re there as you’re jotting around looking for a fresh flower to savor. I enjoy this precious activity out on the Verandah awaiting your arrival. The warm spring breeze fills my nostrils with the exhilarating scents, that I am sure excite you my dear hummingbird. I do marvel at your natural endowment that iridescent plumage, your long slender bill finding imbibe in the aromatic buttercup. Come visit again hummingbird so that my soul may breathe in Gods wondrous gift. A break away from the all too stifling superficial world.

Many birds have come into our lives to reveal something of God's perfection to us. We have had sparrows and other birds living inside our home, flying free around the house. Three starlings we saved lived with us for a while. One day the cardinals who lived on our property met up with the starligs on our front porch. The starlings lift with the cardinals. They all left together. For the next couple of years, each time we left the house, the screen door would shut with a noise and all the birds on our front lawn would fly away. That is, all the birds would fly away except for three starlings.

What a great book from a great theologian and pastor. It's great to see people shirking off a dualism that sees talking about nature and the spiritual as unspiritual and unimportant. Uncore...

A delightful article, well written. John Stott is new to me, he seems very skilled at placing reality and eternity into perspective.
