'He Was My Everything'
So says Michael Landon Jr. about his famous father, in whose footsteps he's following in many ways by making family-friendly fare. But he's also determined to avoid repeating his father's sins.

In many ways, Michael Landon Jr. is following in his famous father's footsteps. He's directing family-friendly TV fare about pioneer life (sometimes even on a prairie!), including his latest film, Love's ...

I am SO pleased that Michael Jr is making the "Love Comes Softly" series! What a great role model for ALL of us, especially for our kids! By the way, I'm a 55yr old grandma and I grew up watching BONANZA and I loved Little Joe and the rest of the guys. Every show Michael Sr made, I loved each and every one of them! Thank you for this article!

I loved your Father when he acted and wept for him when He was going through the tough days in real life. Thank you for taking up the mantle by being a man of faith and producing such wonderful family films.

Wow - just watching the series on Hallmark channel - you are wonderful, Michael, just like your dad - thanks! God loves you and so do I!

Naturally, I am sorry that he and his family had to experiene the heartbreak of divorce, but I am deeply moved that He chose Christ...."Where does my help come from, my help comes from the Lord!!" Janet Okes is my favorite and what a joy to see his name attached to hers...greater still, I will see them both one day in Paradise!! For our names are one with Christ....I remember praying constantly for Michael Landon when I heard that he was sick, praying that he would truly come to know Christ....now as a I continue my journey after my own precious husband of 40 years left this journey due to melenoma, I praise God for our 40 years together here on the farm and that one day I will join him in Heaven. Continue on touching views for the Lord, and being found faithful in the process....thank you, Love, Cathy Zeiger

Excellent article. It's encouraging to know that all christians aren't hypocrites. There are christians who are true to their faith and genuine about their relationship with Christ. God bless you and keep you Michael. Rely on the strength of the Lord to keep you. He promise to "keep what you've commited unto Him against that day."

I'm proud of you   Posted: May 12, 2009 11:41 AM
Thank you for standing up for what you believe in, and making movies a family can watch together.

Sue, I think you are missing the point of the whole article. DId you actually read it?

I think ML Jr. is a rat. To make that horrible film about his father then to ride on his coat tails. He was nothing but a spoiled brat wanting everything. I hope that he can look his father in the eye if he ever makes it heaven.

I agree with your comment about the heavy handedness that can be seen in some Christian films. I like your use of quiet moments to mention Christ and prayer (attraction through actions). (Christ comes through in our treatment towards other people, animals, and nature.) Society needs more filmmakers who understand that films are very important in forming a loving, compassionate, and empathetic social consciousness. The tragedy in my making this comment is that, I think, filmmakers know exactly what they are doing but refuse to take responsibility for their impact on society. And, sadly, as a society, we allow those filmmakers to continue. It must seem as if you are alone in your conviction about films, but keep making them because society needs them! Thank you for your films.

I watched your father since I was a little girl, when he was on Bonanza. I watched him up until he died. I'm so sorry that he hurt you, when he cheated on your mother. We all sin. I just loved him & I am so glad that you were able to come out ahead of this, thanks to your mother. We are enjoying the (LOVE) shows on Hallmark. I was not surprised to see your name on them. I just hope that you were able to forgive your father. I'm sure he was tempted many, many times. He was a good looking man in a business where sex is always rampant. Thank God you are able to recognize that through his mistakes. God Bless You

Very inspiring to know there is at least one director who acts on his faith.
