Jazzed About the Big Screen
Donald Miller's Blue Like Jazz been adapted into a screenplay, with The Second Chance director Steve Taylor at the helm—and both men are pretty excited about it.

It's been nearly seven years since Donald Miller sat down to write the spiritually evocative and personally revealing Blue Like Jazz. Since it was published in 2003, the book's popularity has spread like ...

I'm an old believer, and I needed this fresh approach to Christianity. (I'm 43, and have been "saved" since I was 7) Anyway, I've listened to the book several times and I'm due to listen to it again. The one thing that I go back to was his comment about the "hippies" (i.e. unbelievers) being more loving than most Christians!! WOW!! I love the book, keeps me in check!!

I read "Blue Like Jazz" and "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac in the same season, and my life hasn't been the same since. I have realized how bizarre and judgmental humanity is, and how close my circle of friends truly are, with both events happening virtually at the same time. So to think that Donald Miller and Steve Taylor are making a film of the movie that helped shape my life....I am giddy, to say the least.

This is awesome!! i agree with the person that said "I Dont know how well the concepts will translate to the big screen" but i believe it will be done well. Miller has changed my out look on what it means to be a Christian! I dont read many books but I love his work! Cant wait to see the movie!! Stevo-

I absolutely loved Don Miller's Blue Like Jazz! Eventhough I am a fresh confused believer, I enjoyed this book every step of the way. It would perhaps be something else to see it transform into a movie! I just finished reading this book as a gift from my teacher, and I don't regret picking it up a random day and deciding to read a book that seemed strage. I loved the Don Rabbit story that I showed it to a best friend of mine! This should totally become a movie. Thanks Don for the wonderful sensation of love and unthought of battles your book portrayed! :D

If you can convey the richness of this book on screen it will be an unbelievable experience......Don is so brilliant and gifted.I am grateful he uses his gifts to glorify God.

I loved the book, but the thought of this on the big screen leaves me a bit disappointed, as with all other books that are turned into movies they either lose something in the translation or things are added to give it that "big screen audience" appeal. I hate to see this happen to such a wonderful piece of writing.

I'm pretty psyched about this. I just heard of and finished the book and have told several folks about it. I could easily see this being a quasi-documentary, sort of like Smoke Signals to a degree. I found myself feeling like I was standing next to Don in some of these essays...

Whilst Blue Like Jazz is an incredible read, I am leery about a film based on a non-fiction book. I don't know how well the concepts will translate to the big screen. And perhaps Steve Taylor can educate Miller on some of his misconceptions about jazz itself. It isn't always blue.
