They've been making films about the Son of God for over a century. Here's one man's list of those that ascend to the top of the cinematic pack.

Of the making of movies about Jesus, there is no end. In the first three months of this year alone: Son of Man, which casts a black man as Christ and sets his life in modern South Africa, got positive ...

I think they might be re-releasing some of these movies soon. This website is talking about a new DVD that can show you Bible verses related to the scene and things like that. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=5USYzsupdlngDqVSqbz15A_3d_3d

PASSION OF CHRIST IS MY FAVOURITE MOVIE... EVERYONE WATCHING THIS MOVIE WILL AUTOMATICALLY FEEL THE PAIN THAT OUR JESUS HAD AT THOSE TIMES. WONDERFUL MOVIE. HATS OFF TO PASSION OF CHRIST

The movie Passion of the christ, wow, that was a really good movie. A lot of people had ALOT to say about it , but people that dont know jesus would watch it and think twice about it .i think mel gibson did a good job overall.

The problem with the The Jesus Film is that there is no real art to the movie. Jesus looks spaced out and is fairly unconvincing as a person or God. The lack of artistry is striking given the creative nature of God in the flesh. And given that everyone thinks something about Jesus. Film that does not take seriously the nature of its form and substance is going to be a sure misfire, and The Jesus Film shows that.

I agree with John. The Jesus Film has been watched by more people around the world than any other movie (perhaps more than all other movies combined). Probably better than any of the others, it captures the essence of who Jesus is in a simple but profound way. Nevertheless, all the Jesus films that honor Jesus have their place and I appreciate those who took the time and effort to create and distribute them.

It sure seems unfair to not include the non-theater movies about Jesus on a Christian website's review, like "The Jesus film" by Campus Crusade for Christ. The public already sees/hears just Hollywood's or the media's views of Jesus. Christian-made films that don't have the clout or money to make theaters are often the best, even if they don't have the Hollywood pizzaz. The Jesus film I'm sure has been translated into more languages and "sold" (made and distributed via donations) more copies than any Jesus movie in history. There are other good ones, too. The "top 10" in this article include some real strange ones!

This is the best of films that portrays Jesus's life. The characters and the strong music itself. Even though this movie was made back in the early 70's, it's cast and beautiful music at that this time was casted so brilliant. Robert Powell potrayed Jesus so well, when you see other films, the characters that portray Jesus are not the same. This film has touched my heart and still til this day.
