Evangelical megachurch pastor reflects on the inauguration and gives a few predictions.

California megachurch pastor Rick Warren drew the most fire for offering the invocation at the inauguration, but another evangelical pastor prayed with Barack Obama for the third time in recent months. ...

Attention Sarah Pulliam, who inteviewed Joel Hunter for this interview: Love Your Spelling ! This quote from your inteview, "He has pledged that he will attempt to reduce abortion in a full range of ways both by reducing unexpected Presidencies and supporting those women who choose to carry their babies to term." Gotta tell you if you didn't do that accidentily, I cannot thing of anything more like a "unexpected Presidencie" as Obama ! If you mispelled this word, then please take an on-line course in spelling.

The infatuation with Obama is really quite creepy. He is a man and only a man and God will judge him, just like everyone else who walks this earth. His actions of last week say a lot about the man. On Friday afternoon, when there is little news coverage, President Obama by executive order allowed US taxpayer money to be forwarded to international organizations which not only support abortion, but perform abortions. This was a change in US policy which he found so important that he made it one of the first actions of his administration. Please watch what the man does, not what he says.

There is a wrong word in the article. Under the question "Do you have any predictions on what Obama do in office?" You write "by reducing unexpected 'presidencies'." It should be 'pregnancies'.

I was listening to Nancy D Moss today and she said some things that even though she never said anything other than quote Scripture about a man that comes to the Church and very sweetly and softly deceives the Naive people and takes them away from their Faith and Trust in God. As she was talking, I knew in my heart that this man was Obama and he is one of the great, gentle decievers and with his great speaking ability and his ability to make people believe him and to care for him, he will lead many away from their morals, their values and their Faith. All the naive will give what they have and who they are to this man and not think twice about it.

I am an Asian reader. I can not believe that Christianity today would keep posting this kind of 'secret endorsement' article to Christians around the world --who are working hard to keep their faith pure in the eyes of a Holy God-- in the midst of bombardments of sins thrown by the devils. Is the fact that Obama invited a gay priest to pray at the pre-Innauguration night -- besides signing an Executive order to give funds to organizations that support Abortion around the world -- are not enough to make CT Board of Overseers to intervene and stop 'infatuation' madness? How much more confusions would you throw at us? I am considering to unsubscribe to CT. I need sources that would help me and my family grow in the right direction of faith. The world's message of no moral absolute makes it difficult enough to raise teenagers in this age. More from magazine like CT desnot make it easier. I Wonder what our Lord Jesus would think of his disciples upholding this kind of President?

I would like to ask Mr. Hunter if he heard President Obama's speech to Planned Parenthood. It is scary. Yes, he makes it sound as if us Pro-life advocates are the enemy. The FOCA is something about which to be concerned. As a Catholic Christian, I say we must be vigilant and proactive. We must stand on the wall and sound the alarm. Remember, to keep silent is to give consent. Let us pracice cautious optimism.

I am disturbed by the inference of some of your questions. Both George Bush and Barack Obama are professing Christians. The difference is Barack is a practicing Christian. I will take Obama over Bush anyday. And I am a United Methodist.

And once again, we have a bunch of ultra-rightists who wave the banners of abortion and gay rights as if they are the only two subjects that matter in America. I won't begin to state that abortion and homosexuality are inconsequential; that's hardly the case. But these same people probably remained silent as former President Bush committed acts of pure evil against humanity during the course of his White House tenure. Now I already hear Republicans talking about how bad the "Obama economy" is, as if he could have had anything in the world to do with our current state of affairs apart from some votes within the Senate. Christian Republicans are the most venemous hate-breed in our society because they cannot and will not acknowledge the Satanic evils of their party of choice or see beyond the clouds of abortion rights and gay marriage. This is why the Republican Party will soon be extinct; they have rhetoriziced themselves out of existence. RIP.

I think it is great that the President is in relationship with evangelical pastors like Warren and Hunter. The question is will these men be able to consistently speak truth in love to power? The headline for the interview teases us with Hunter offering a few predictions...I wonder if Hunter would have predicted the typcial homage paid by Obama on day 3 in regard to reversing by executive order the freeze GW had on taxpayer funds in support of abortion? Is this the HopeChange that Wallis, Claiborne, Compolo and company were expecting?

Hunter was asked what he said to Obama before the inauguration by a newscaster here in Orlando. His answer: “I told him, ‘Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…’" When Jesus taught this, he was most assuredly not talking about insults that were the result of political positions. He was referring to persecution arising from an unashamed identity with the one Christ and his teachings. It is a gross misuse of this verse to apply it to a political figure who has openly and unashamedly taken positions directly in opposition to Christ and his teachings – especially on the watershed issues of the sanctity of marriage and human life. It is deeply saddening that our so called evangelical leaders get so caught up in Obamamania that they loose all perspective, twist the Scriptures and ultimately endorse the godless views of a rank pagan.

Joel Hunter is a bit to caught up in the Obama hype, methinks. It alarms him that people are taking Obama at his word over the FOCA?!? So it is WE who are the bad guy for, you know, believing that Obama takes FOCA seriously and wants to see it passed like he promised to do? Wow, how foolish and intolerant of us. Sorry, Mr. Hunter. I'll guess I forgot my rose colored glasses at home.

This is by far my favorite sentence from this article; "He has pledged that he will attempt to reduce abortion in a full range of ways both by reducing unexpected presidencies and supporting those women who choose to carry their babies to term." Funny typos ROCK!
